Here is another lovely jewelry instagram find. Each piece in the Takara collection is handmade in Portland, OR. In the workshop the artist Jen Goff uses traditional craft techniques like weaving, ropemaking and braiding and combines these with natural dyed fibers and hand-hammered metals. I’m really intrigued by the mix of the different textures and the contrast that adds so much interest.

INSTAGRAM FIND – tirotirostudio
Teresa Robinson is the designer of a small line of jewelry and art objects called Tiro Tiro. She first fell in love with metalsmithing when she took a jewelry class in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Her jewelry is informed by traditional craft practices and 15 years of jewelry-making experience. On her website she writes that she lives with her daughter Olive, a pup named Marcelle and 3 precious chickens in a grey house in Portland, Oregon. Sounds like a fairy tale. I really love the geometry and the use of horse hair in her jewelry pieces.

Lisa Marie Andersson is a paper and origami artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. Look at her gorgeous paper sculptures. I also love these colors! Her background is in fashion design. She also gives workshops and works on commissions.

I’m really inspired by the abstract and textural fiber wall hangings of Meghan Shimek at the moment. Meghan Shimek is a weaver and artist and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is inspired by nature. Doesn’t this sound lovely: “She integrates the natural beauty of her surroundings, the memory of quiet snowy nights, and the sound of the stream running under her home into every weaving.”
